Las Rocas Garnacha

This Garnacha (Grenache) hails from Spain’s Calatayud appellation in the country’s central region.  This region is characterized by a continental climate with hot and dry summers.  The high altitude vineyards on the slopes of the Sierra de la Virgen mountain range allow for cooler nights, balancing the acidity and alcohol. $13.99

“Purple colored, it delivers a smoky, spicy, black cherry perfume leading to a soft, easy-going, savory wine meant for drinking over the next 4 years. As usual, it is an excellent value.”

Château de Ségriès 'Lirac'

This wine has become a tried and true favorite here at Amendment XXI. Its spicy dark fruits work perfectly with its robust earthy tone. As the nights get colder, this hearty wine will surely warm you up. The Lirac would pair wonderfully with lamb, osso bucco or rustic beef dishes. "More serious, structured, and meaty is the 2009 Lirac Cuvee Reservee. Fifty percent Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest Cinsault, Mourvedre and Carignan, this has more earthy, foresty notes, an opaque ruby/purple color, hints of incense, blue and black fruits, medium body and light to moderate tannin in the finish. It is just becoming drinkable yet should age reasonably well for 5-7 years. The new releases from proprietor Henri de Lanzac are all impressive."- Robert Parker 88 pts $19.99

Domaine des Escaravailles "Les Sablieres"

“Lively and focused, with a beam of red licorice running through the core of red and black cherry fruit. Polished structure and a lingering apple wood note provide length. Drink now through 2012. 1,800 cases imported.”

The Wine Spectator awarded the 2009 vintage 90 points!  $15.99
