"Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five hardworking generations of the Delaille family. Today, all forty-two hectares of vineyards are farmed by the capable brother team of Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille, with help from their father Gilbert.
The Brothers Delaille must have chosen "Unique" because of its incredible taste and ridiculously low price. Clean, bright, and zesty, this little vin de pays is your perfect solution to just about everything you can possibly imagine." $16.99
The house of Pascal Jolivet was founded in 1987 and is one of the most dynamic domaines in France's Loire Valley. Based in Sancerre, the domaine now owns over 120 acres of prime vineyards spread across the appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé.
Pale & vibrant in color. Pascal Jolivet Sancerre is fresh, clean and screaming with racy acidity. On the palate it is fresh and tightly wound; acidity is tempered by very subtle residual sugar; very clean; alive, racy, youthful. Overall, a dry and elegant wine.
Marlborough is the region that put the distinctive summery grassiness of the New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc on the world map. Marlborough is Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc is Jules Taylor's obsession. She likes the unique expression of the region. She likes its vibrancy. She likes drinking it. And she loves making it. The Jules Taylor Sauvignon Blanc won the Champion Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the Air New Zealand wine awards in 2007, and again, in 2010.
The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc opens with a burst of bright citrus and the unmistakable aroma of capsicum. Elderflower and currant aromas are also present. It has a radiant light yellow hue, tinged with green and the dominant flavours are fresh and herbal layered over ripe tropical fruit & citrus notes. A fine line of acid ensures the flavours are focussed and leads to a delicate yet persistent finish with underlying mineral tones. $16.00
The Touraine appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is found in the central Loire river valley and is known for producing Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. As a close neighbor to Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, Touraine produces wonderful examples of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc at great value.
The Touraine from Chais Saint-Laurent offers fantastic value while delivering typical characteristics. The Touraine opens with a very light straw color with hints of green, indicating its cool-climate origin. The nose offers citrus, hints of grapefruit, and a mild vegetal grassiness that can only be described as English peas. On the palate the wine is light and crisp with racy acidity and a piercing finish. Pair this Sauvignon Blanc with goat’s cheese, asparagus, vegetarian dishes, spicy Chinese food, white fish with lemon, ceviche, and just about anything with a sharp citrus component.
This beautiful winery featuring a gorgeous lavender garden is set in Bennett Valley, Sonoma, California. “Bennett Valley is as unique as its three mountains – Sonoma, Bennett and Taylor – that capture fog and a cool air stream from the Pacific Ocean, making the temperature profile similar to that of the Russian River Valley. This cooling effect, called the Petaluma Wind Gap, produces a long growing season that’s ideal for grapevines, allowing them to be unhurried, yet hard-working.” – Matanza’s Creek Winery. This Sauvignon Blanc expresses the grape's natural aromatics, an intensely perfumed fresh bouquet of lime, bright pink grapefruit and lemon thyme. Texture was added to the palate by aging a small percentage in fine grain French oak. There are hints of green melon, pear and papaya on the palate. A medium bodied, and fresh food-friendly wine.
"For the 2012 vintage of Banshee Sauvignon Blanc, we looked to vineyards in the Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys, to craft a luscious, brisk, and eminently friendly wine. We selected from vines ranging from 8-30 years old and a variety of clonal selections. We have included a healthy portion of the Sauvignon Musqué clone (35%) which imbues the wine with a noticeable aromatic signature. With part sweet floral and part baby pea and mint aromas, this is one Sauvignon Blanc you won't mind sticking your nose into.
Melon and prosciutto keep popping into mind while thinking about this Sauvignon Blanc, although we're certain it would pair well with a variety of fresh summer foods, fish, pork, and chicken. Just looking for a quick patio sip? Fear not - this wine is equally pleasurable all on its own." $18.00
